History of the Old Greenwich Lions Club

The Old Greenwich Lions Club was chartered on May 18, 1933 under the sponsorship of the Greenwich Lions Club. At least four or five times a year, the club meets jointly with the Greenwich Lions in an effort to foster cooperation as well as to combine their efforts on a major fund raiser, the annual golf tournament.

This club also holds a grapefruit sale, a pancake "fry," and a "Charitable Trust" mailing, all of which are significant sources of income.

Funds raised are used to support Connecticut and International Lions programs, as well as the community. Annually, the club’s contributions total is between $25,000 and $30,000 a year.

Through the years, the Old Greenwich Lions Club has served as a source of talent used to fill several cabinet positions.

As this club is in its 78th year, it stands proud to be a major part of the fabric of their community.
