Protecting our Environment  - Service Activities

Centennial Service Project:  Olathe Lions to continue to look for ways to reach our goal of Centennial Service Challenge for the protection of our environment. Considerations for community service projects: • Harvesters or other food program • protect the planet by cleaning the environment • planting trees, recycling and education  

Olathe Lions Club Scholarship Awards  - Service Activities

Lion E.D. Hamblin Memorial Scholarship The Olathe Lions stress the importance of community service by providing tuition money to students to help in paying for a higher education. Scholarship funds to deserving youths include those who are hearing or visually impaired. Scholarship awards are presented to five Olathe High School seniors from these schools: Olathe South, Olathe Northwest, Olathe East, Olathe North and Olathe Advanced Technical Center (OATC). Judging and presentation facilitated by Lion Club members as a community project that is one of our top projects held annually.  

 Mobile Health Screening Program  - Service Activities

Mobil Vision screening is a program that provides free preventative screenings at schools and community events throughout the state. These screenings are free to those being screened; most of the charges for these services are covered by the Foundation and the local Lions Club. Lions Clubs partner with their local community leaders and schedule the unit for special community events. At community events, professionals and volunteers man each station and provide free screenings that may include: visual acuity, glaucoma, and blood pressure. Walk-ins welcome; no reservations required. Olathe Lions Club screenings are held periodically at local community centers. Recent screenings were held at the Heartland Early Childhood Center at 1700 W. Sheridan, Olathe Kansas. The Olathe Lions Club and contributing organizations serve members of our community. Children indicating an urgent need for follow-up are recommended to visit a physician. for further evaluation  

Salvation Army Bell Ringing Event   - Service Activities

Olathe Lions SERVE the Salvation Army The Christmas kettle is one of The Salvation Army's most famous campaigns and one that the Olathe Lions Club serves proudly. It is our tradition, year after year, to reach out to others and make a genuine difference in the community. Even on the coldest days in the month of December, you will see our club members standing outside of businesses and ringing bells to inspire passersby to place donations in the trademark red kettles. Ho-ho-ho, even in the cold! And besides, “What a wonderful way to spend a few hours with friends!”  

  Olathe Lions Club Golf Tournament  - Fundraiser Activities

Olathe Lions sponsor a charity golf tournament every summer scheduled in the month of June. This event is held at Prairie Highlands Golf Course, 14695 Inverness St, Olathe, KS. This is a fun-filled golf classic as it allows players of all abilities to contribute to the team’s success using the 4-person scramble format. Player fees are $85.00 per person. Sign-in: 7:15 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. Tournament starts at 8:00 a.m. The Olathe Lion Club appreciates community sponsors who provide gift packages for the winning teams. Contact us for registration sheets as we are always planning ahead for our next tournament.    

Olathe Lions Club Annual Chili and Soup Supper  - Fundraiser Activities

Olathe Lions Club ALL YOU CAN EAT CHILI & SOUP SUPPER is held in October annually at the First Baptist Church 2024 E 151st Street, Olathe, KS. Our Chili & Soup Supper is one of our signature fundraisers to serve the community of Olathe. Participants choose from a variety of soups, our crowd-pleasing Chili, fresh-baked cornbread, grilled hot dogs and a wide array of desserts that include many home cooked family recipes. It is nice to meet and serve new people in the community as well as an opportunity to see many familiar faces from past events. Our goal, as always, is to make Olathe a great place to live, work and play.

Johnson County Old Settlers Festival   - Fundraiser Activities

The Olathe Lions Club holds one of their signature fundraising events annually at the Johnson County Old Settlers Festival in the month of September. Food items served from our booth are the traditional pulled-pork sandwiches, Chili Dogs, Cheeseburgers and Nachos with cheese and jalapeño peppers along with an assortment of cold beverages. A huge THANKS to the volunteers who helped make last year’s event a success. In the past. Volunteers from other Lions clubs have helped our club serve our community as the traffic flow from this popular event increases Networking possibilities are worthwhile!. We will reciprocate, JUST ASK! Thank you. 

Olathe Lions Signature Event Pancake Breakfast - Fundraising Event

The Olathe Lions Pancake Breakfast held at the First Baptist Church, 2024 E 151st Street, Olathe, Kansas, is a community fund raiser every spring. No one leaves the table hungry after a breakfast that includes our delicious pancakes with maple syrup and our fluffy biscuits and sausage gravy. With plenty of volunteers, what’s not to like about a pancake breakfast fundraiser event. Funds collected benefit the Olathe Scholarship Program and our Youth and Community Projects. . A raffle for an original painting by Olathe Lion John Burns is part of the ambience as well as paintings available for sale from the Olathe Visual Artists. Come! Be a hero and help our community.
