Our Club, Our Community, Our History
New Holstein Lions Club was Chartered in April 1970 with 36 members by the Winnebago East Shore Lions Club. There is 1 charter member still active in the club, Alan Depies.
At that time, the meeting nights were established and are still held the first Thursday of the month as the Dinner meeting, and the third Thursday of the month as the Board of Directors or Business Meeting. The club maintains an average of 50-60 men and women from the community and area as members.
Since 1970, the New Holstein Lions Club has donated over $200,000.00 and supported many projects both within the New Holstein area, the State Wisconsin Lions Foundation (WLF) and the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) projects.
Locally some of the many projects are the City Lions Play Park area, Welker Shelter at the Play Park, Veteran’s Memorial Park, building wheelchair ramps for local residents in need of access to their homes and supporting various youth activities.
Proceeds from past fundraising events have gone locally to:

New Holstein Boy Scouts
New Holstein Community Chest
New Holstein Fire Department
New Holstein First Responders
New Holstein High School Scholarships each year
local youth activities
other local projects as they come before the Board.
Contributions to the Wisconsin Lions Foundation from the New Holstein Lions include:
The Wisconsin Lions Camp for the handicapped, diabetic youth and blind at Rosholt
The Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center
used eye glasses can be placed in containers are throughout the comminity for donation.
The Lions Hearing Aid program
hearing aids can be left in the eye glass containers.
Diabetes Education and Research,
Children’s Vision screening with some members trained to do eye screening.
Youth Projects including the Quest and LEO programs at the local schools.
The New Holstein Lions support the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin (LEBW) in Madison of which some of the New Holstein Lions provide tissue transportation 24 hours a day when requested.
