The Lions held our Annual Charter night on April 21st at the American Legion Hall. This is the night we honor fellow members for exemplary service to our motto of "We Serve". The following are the recipients of this years awards and a description of what they mean to Lions International.

Melvin Jones Fellowship

The Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) was created in 1973 and takes its name from the founder of Lions Club International, Melvin Jones. It is an honor—not an award. The fellowship was established as Lions Club International Foundations (LCIF) highest form of recognition to acknowledge an individual’s dedication to humanitarian service and represents humanitarian qualities such as generosity, compassion, and concern for the less fortunate. MJFs are greatly concerned about the needs of humanity, performing deeds that outlast a lifetime. Considerations include: length of service, leadership roles, dedication, accomplishments, role model, attendance at club meetings and events, community service, respected citizen, and a fun loving member. The personal nature of the fellowship restricts it to individuals only.

Birch-Sturm Fellowship
The Birch-Sturm Fellowship (BSF) program was created by the Wisconsin Lions Foundation to honor individuals who exemplify undying dedication and commitment to the work of the Wisconsin Lions Foundation and the humanitarian works it supports. The fellow honors Wisconsin’s only International Presidents, Frank V Birch and Clarence L. Sturm. Birch and Sturm were great supporters of the Foundation.
The Foundation, founded in 1956 to administer the Lions’ then fledgling summer camp program, is the agent of all state-wide service activities. Lions of Wisconsin felt that a state charitable organization would unite the efforts of our individual clubs and raise service to the disabled to new heights, including other sight and hearing programs. The BSF is one way for clubs to honor any Lion, Lioness, Leo or non-Lion, living or deceased, who has displayed this dedication and commitment.

He served as the first Lions Camp Director and took on its development.
