In South Carolina
 
As of February 2014, 667,000 South Carolinians are uninsured and often cannot afford hearing aids, glasses, and other hearing or vision services.  
 
Last fiscal year, South Carolina Lions Charitable Services (SCLCS) has been able to:
Help restore sight to 106 individuals in South Carolina, saving taxpayers $557,560 in healthcare costs.  
Provide hearing aids to 153 individuals here in South Carolina, saving taxpayers $252,450 in healthcare costs.
Provide FREE vision, hearing and other health screenings to 8,837 individuals through their Mobile Health Screening Unit with 95% of them being school aged children with savings totalling $618,590.
 
Within the first 7 months of this fiscal year, SCLCS has:
Completed 67 eye surgeries worth $378,120.05   
Provided 52 hearing aids worth $69,767.74
Provided 5,821 health screenings worth $407,470
 
One of every five children screened through the SC Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit is referred for further vision testing and local Lions Clubs provide free eyeglasses for those who cannot afford to pay for them.  14% of individuals screened for hearing tests are referred for further testing by an audiologist.  The SC Lions Foundation receives no Federal, State, or Medicaid funding to provide the over $1,428,000 in healthcare services provided by SCLCS last fiscal year.  
 
In Aiken County
 
Last fiscal year Aiken County accounted for:
8 surgeries worth $42, 080
25 hearing aids worth $41, 250
320 health screenings worth $22,400
 
 
Within the first 7 months of this fiscal year, Aiken County has accounted for:
5 surgeries woth $28, 217.90
2 hearing aids worth $2,680.72
 
In summary, Aiken County received a total of $105,730 last fiscal year and a total of $30,898 within the first 7 months of this fiscal year. Local Lions Clubs (not including SCLCS programs) have served 15,306 individuals and provided over $256,000 in eyeglasses and other vision and hearing services last fiscal year  without Federal, State, or Medicaid funding.
 
RETURN ON INVESTMENT
 
For every dollar donated to the SC Lions Foundation, SCLCS is able to provide an additional six dollars in vision, hearing, and health screening services through partnerships with other agencies.  
 
100% of the dollars donated to SC Lions Foundation stays in South Carolina to provide vision, hearing, and health screening services to South Carolinians in need.
 
Last fiscal year, the retail cost per client for an:

SC Lions were able to provide services at a greatly reduced price through your donations and partnerships with other agencies, for example:
Eye surgery for $1,047.63 vice $5,643.58
Hearing aids for $152.50 vice $1,340.36
Health screenings for $8.14 vice $70
 
In summary, South Carolina has provided over $855,357.79 of retail services for $125,518.86 totalling $729,838.93 in savings.  This equals an approximate return on investment of 6 to 1.
 
SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

$1300 will sponsor one eye surgery for an uninsured patient through the SC Lions
$500 will sponsor the purchase of one hearing aid for an uninsured patient through the SC Lions
$750 will sponsor one day of service through the SC Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit, serving over 100 individuals per day
$375 will sponsor one-half day of service through the SC Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit, serving over 50 individuals per day
$200 will sponsor the co-pay for two hearing aids for the hearing impaired
$100 will sponsor the co-pay for one hearing aid or pay for health screenings for ten (10) children on the Mobile Health Screening Unit
$50 will sponsor free health screening services for 10 South Carolina children through the SC Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit
$10 will sponsor free health screening services for one South Carolina child through the SC Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit
