The Middleton Lions Club is expanding to become the Tri Town Lions Club. We will expand to serve Boxford, Middleton, and Topsfield. Below is a history of the Middleton Lions Club which service will grow to serve more both in our communities and with eye research.
The Middleton Lions Club was founded June 19, 1969. It is part of Lions Multiple District 33N. The club has been active in the community doing a variety of fundraisers ranging from horse shows to selling apple crisp to Legendary Voices shows. These fundraisers support many programs in the Lions Club. Eye research is a main focus of Lions and Massachusetts is home to some of the top eye research programs. Monies have also gone to Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) to support various parts of the world during times of disasters (tsunami, earthquakes, hurricanes). Middleton Lions Club has supported local residents and the town. Masconomet students have received scholarships sponsored by the club and the club has sponsored students to the Massachusetts All State Band and have submitted artwork by the students to the annual Lions Peace Poster Contest. The library has received equipment to assist visually impaired residents and the fire department received money for dive equipment to name a few of the donations made by the Middleton Lions Club. The District has an "Eyemobile", a multi station center which assesses vision and hearing. Many people who have been through the eyemobile have had eye conditions detected and referred for early interventions. The Eyemobile has equipment donated by the Middleton Lions Club.
