Melton Lions Club were able to put on their annual Swimarathon since COVID lockdown hit the 2020 event a week before it was due to take place. Even in 2022 obstacles threatened the event with some people sadly having to withdraw as they were in isolation.  But the local community and members of Lions came together on Saturday 2nd April and the usual fun, competiveness and comarardery resulted in everyone having a great time, and raising funds for the selected charities.

This year's event saw 14 local teams from schools, families, work colleagues and clubs take up the challenge to raise as much sponsorship as possible to contribute to the Melton Lions sponsored charities. 75 swimmers urged on by friends and family entered into the fun and at the end of the event had been pledged over £2700.

The most lengths recorded this year, a record 225 beating their 2019 total were "Melton Wednesday Alpha" led by Kris Zbaraski, while the most money pledged on the day was by "Mencap Mushy Peas" captained by Edward Kitchen.

The money raised is equally split between the following local charities. The Mayoral Charity: : Young Lives vs Cancer, Alzheimer's Society - United Against Dementia (Melton) and Lions Projects: Funding local charitable projects within the Borough.

2022 Presentation Evening

Melton Mowbray Lions Club celebrated their 2022 Swimarathon Presentation evening on Wednesday 15th June at the Civic Suite. The evening is an opportunity to celebrate individual and group fund raising achievements which this year resulted in pledged donatons of £3000.  The money is split equally between the nominated charities.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year

After a two year wait due to Covid restrictions, 2022 saw the return of our annual Charity Golf and Auction event. This year, the format was changed to a "Texas Scramble" with 15 teams battling it out. The weather was kind to us this year and the participants enjoyed the new format.

After the event, all were able to enjoy the evening Pig Roast which was followed by the Charity Auction. This year the club was able to raise some £3500 which will be distributed between our local "Air Ambulance" and "The Rainbows Hospice".

Melton Lions wish to thank all our sponsors and auction donators for their kind support, without whom the event could not have taken place.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year
