Prairie Gleaners

On Feb 25, 2023, ten volunteers from our Club went to Prairie Gleaners to package locally made dehydrated vegitables to ship to communities around the world. We packaged 692 bags, able to provide over 79,000 servings of food.

Lions Club presents cheque to Prairie Gleaners

While there, we checked on the sealer that a donation from the club allowed the Prairie Gleaners to buy in 2019.

Plus Optikx Vision Screening

With the purchase of a Plus Optikx vision scanner, our Club has been able to conduct vision screenings for Kindergarten and Grade Two students in Medicine Hat, Redcliff and District.  We plan to expand this program into private schools and possibly daycares.  Our team of volunteers screens approximately 900 - 1000 children during the fall months every year!  Children that need a visit to the Optometrist are referred for a further check up!

Medicine Hat Root Cellar

The Lions Club of Medicine Hat has been a long-time supporter of the local Food Bank.  When the economic recession hit this community, our Club responded with a donation of $50,000.  In 2011, the Club donated an additional $15,000 to allow the Food Bank to upgrade it's freezer/refridgeration space to allow for additional storage.  Following the flood in June of 2013, the Food Bank asked for help once again to purchase an additional freezer for the Food Bank.  We donated the $7,300 to purchase this for them. This, in turn, allowed the Food Bank to help more people.  In 2015, the Lions Club of Medicine Hat donated $10,000 to help the Food Bank.  Our Club makes donations annually to this project and the proceeds of cash donations and non-perishable donations collected at our annual hayride  add to that.  Our Club believes that we are here to help our community where/when it's needs arise.

Medicine Hat and District Health Foundation

Over the years, the Lions Club of Medicine Hat has stepped up and donated over $330,000 dollars to the Health Foundation.  This has enabled the Foundation to purchase some much needed equipment - going beyond the basics - and giving the community access to equipment and services that otherwise would not be available here in Medicine Hat.

Scholarships

The Lions Club of Medicine Hat provides a number of scholarships to students in the Medicine Hat area, enabling students to further their education and decreasing the financial committment necessary for students in need.

Other Projects:

Other projects supported by the Lions Club of Medicine Hat include donations to the Medicine Hat Women's Shelter, sports teams, the Medicine Hat Public Schools Education Foundation, the Medicine Hat Catholic Schools Education Foundation, and the Santa Claus Fund as well as many, many others.

Our Club also decorates the Children's ward for Christmas at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, does clean up of the Lions Park, collects used eyeglasses, and collects pop can tabs for fundraising for wheelchairs.
