Established in 1966 the McHenry Lions club has become a pillar of service within the city of McHenry, Illinois, located along the beautiful Fox River. Our devoted and hardworking members are committed to raising funds in order to help out those in need and we are perennially ranked among the the top clubs in the state. We can boast of 20 Melvin Jones Award recipients, 16 Foundation Fellows and 7 Lazansky Award winners.
McHenry Lions' primary goal is to help the sight and hearing impaired. Our club hosts a variety of fund raisers every year, including Candy Day, Lion's Carnival, and Pancake Breakfast. We also raise money through Sight and Sound Sweepstakes, Lucky 50, and by selling food and beverages out of our very own Weenie Wagon. Our members are also visible at such events as Fiesta Days, the Car Show, Touch-A-Truck and various food drives for FISH.
The success of our fund raising allows us to spend thousands of dollars each year in order to help those less fortunate. In conjunction with the McHenry Township office, the McHenry Lions takes applications for individuals who need help with such things as: eye exams, glasses, eye surgery, and hearing aids. In addition, our club accepts used eye glasses that are recycled and used to provide glasses to individuals throughout the world. Our recognizable recycling boxes located throughout the city have become a common symbol of our presence in the community.
The McHenry Lions would like to thank you for visiting our website and hope that it inspires you to join us. We can always use more help. If you would like to become a member or are in need of assistance, please feel free to contact us.
