Lion Leroy Miller

Member since February, 1970

Here is my short story.

Charles Payden ask me to come visit and possibly join the Marceline Lions Club. That was February,1970 when I joined the Marceline Lions. I was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the club to start July 1, 1970 and I have been Secretary-Treasurer ever since.

My Marceline connection started in November, 1969 when I went to work for Dorothy Moorman at the Marceline State Bank. Dorothy sold the bank to American Bank at St. Joseph and our bank name changed several times. After almost 36 years I retired in the same bank building which is now called US Bank.

I married Carolyn Clubine on June 13, 1971. I still live in our first home (second owners) in Marceline. We had two daughters, Nicole and GiGi, and they are now both married with two children. Nicole lives north of Columbia in the Harrisbury School District. GiGi lives at Kearney, Mo.

We attended State Lions Conventions and my 8th grade teacher said that I should attend Lions International Conventions as they were much bigger with Lions attending from all over the world. We attended Lions International Conventions in Dallas, Texas and St. Louis Missouri.

Carolyn passed away due to Huntingtons Disease in 1998.

Recently I attended a Lions Cabinent meeting in Brookfield. A Lady Lions from Tarkio ask about a long lost cousin who grew up in Brookfield. I said the last I knew she lived in Marceline but that was a few years ago. I ask my Lions friends at the Marceline Lions meeting. They told me that she still lived in Marceline. So I got the two cousins back in touch with each other They were both very pleased.

I have been active at the Bucklin Christian Church since first grade. I have played the piano &/or organ there since October, 1969.

I wanted to wait until I retired to get a computer at home. It has been a nice hobby. I can even e-mail distant relatives that I visited one time in Sweden.

We welcome visitors or new members at any time.
