2019-The club held a Rummage and Bake sale to raise funds for the people of the Bahamas after the experience of the hurricane.

Club members have also assisted with sorting Christmas toys for the Salvation Army.

2020-$530.00 was raised to purchase meals,from Tim Hortons,for the Frontline workers,Caregivers and Staff at Seven Oaks Long term Home.

The club also participated,virtually,in the annual Pet Walk for Guide Dogs.

PPEs,masks,Face Shields etc,re a grant from Lions International,were purchased and delivered to Long Term Homes,Altamont Care Community and Orchard Villa.

A donation of Face Shields was made to Wexford Residence as requested specifically by the donor.

$125.00 was raised for a grieving family in Mississauga after they experienced a serious family tragedy.

Food donations were made to the Daily Bread Food Bank at Thanksgiving.

The club also participated in the annual Star Christmas Gift for Kids endeavour.

In December,$1350.00 was raised to assist a family of eight with the purchase of food and toys for the kids.

Volunteers also assisted with the sorting of donated clothing at the New Circles Community Services.

2021-The club commenced an Easter appeal food drive,from March29-April 03 for the Daily Bread Food Bank requesting assistance from other clubs via postings to Facebook.On Saturday,April03 food donations were collected,sorted and donated to the Bank by our members.In acknowledgement of our efforts the president gracefully acquiesced to take a few pictures with our members,FVDG Sandy Heeralal-Sudan and friends.

Emphasising the need for cooperation between clubs,members assisted the Toronto Capri Lions Club with the successful operation of their lottery on Saturday,April 10th, their inaugural Charter Night. 

April 21st..Members quickly responded to the St Vincent volcanic disaster as participants in the A711 Relief Programme by making donations monetarily,collecting essential items and volunteering at local storage areas. 

The club observed Earth Day,an acknowledgement of Environmental concerns,by doing general cleanup in a small area and switching off their lights at home.

$320.00 was collected for an oxygen concentrator machine,a device urgently needed in India to assist victims of the raging Covid-19 pandemic.The amount was forwarded to the Toronto Netralya Lions Club.

Malvern Onyx Lions Club handed out lunch bags to community members at Grace Church's monthly Community Lunch programme.

Environmental concerns were addressed at the club's meeting place,St John the Divine Church, by commencing the annual spring cleaning ,clearing debris and doing general cleanup in mid June.

A Diabetes seminar was held by the club on Wednesday,June 15th, in concert with Toronto and Scarborough Global Doctors Lions Clubs to provide a forum for persons suffering from the disease.Dr Shafi Bhuiyan was the host with  Drs Mithila Orin and Agafya Krivova as the panellists.Moderators were Lions Elaine Forde,President and Julian Austin PRC.

A donation was made towards the cause of Hunger Relief at the New Amsterdam Technical Institute Alumni Association's (NATIAA) mental health session that was held on Sunday,June 13th.

A  cheque for $500.00 was presented to Sandi Hancox of Childhood Cancer Canada.In appreciation the club was given pins representing the fight against cancer.

The club also participated in the Lions Recycle for Sight  Project by publicising appeals for old and unused glasses.

Seniors were driven to and from City Operating Vaccination Clinics to get their Covid 19 vaccinations..

The club made monetary and food donations towards the Guyana Flood Relief endeavour.

The club distributed Thanksgiving food bags at Dave and Charlotte's No Frills located at 70 Island Rd on Sunday,October 3rd .This was to facilitate the collection of donations towards the annual Thanksgiving food drive for the Daily Bread Food Bank.

In response to the Daily Bread Food Bank's annual Thanksgiving appeal Malvern Onyx,Toronto Cathay,Toronto Mabuhay and Toronto Kaiteur came together as Lions representatives and collected donations which were delivered to the Food Bank on Thanksgiving weekend.

Christmas cards were mailed and delivered to friends and family at Peel Manor,Wexford,Extendicare,Seven Oaks and Providence long term homes and Scarborough General,Scarborough Centenary Hospitals.Lion Pat Moore is seen handing a card to Mark McConney,a resident at The Wexford and lifetime member of the club.

Through Malvern Onyx's Christmas Cheer $1000.00 was collected by the club and disbursed to two families as follows:

$250.00 to SCHC..which supports a family of four with meal packages and gifts.
Walmart gift card for $375.00 to family #1
Walmart gift card for $375.00 to family #2
Additionally,80 pounds of non perishable food items and extra clothing were also given to the families which comprised of two mothers,seven children and a grandmother.
The recipients were very expressive with their gratitude.

The club has members volunteering at 5n2,an agency that provides food to the needy,by delivering meals to Seniors.There is the need for more volunteers so positions are available for drivers,people with computer skills,gardeners and people to work in the kitchen.

2022..January...eight bags of used clothing were depositied to the Diabetes Donation Box.A box of used glasses was also collected with the continued appeal for added donations.

February..03..publicised partnership between Tim Hortons and Special Olympics Canada with the request to 'buy a limited-edition Choose to Include Donut at participating Tim Hortons restaurants,with 100% of the proceeds being donated directly to Special Olympics Canada'.

February 18...LCI's President,Douglas X.Alexander,made a brief appearance as an invitee at the club's Black History Month celebration.With regards to his 'Service from the Heart' appeal,the club made a nomilnal donation to the cause. 

March 4.....The club played an active role as a member of A-711's Vision Committee,by participating in the very informative 'Eye care and Wellness' presentation by Doctor Joseph Chan. 

March18...The club received a letter of appreciation from New Circles,an organisation that assists refugee and needy families with donated clothing,for the volunteer services provided by the club.

April 5..See message below re Malvern Onyx from Newcircles,an organisation that donates used clothing to refugees,families living on a low income and others in dire need.

As members of the @LionsClubs, Leslie, Dean and Leslie are always looking for ways to serve their community. This hardworking group of Tuesday volunteers enjoy giving back and welcoming others to our great country, the best country in the world!

April 10-16 ..The club collected monetary and food donations at Fusion Supermaket and No Frills in Scarborough throughout the Easter week.The amount of $122.25 was collected which was used to purchase fourteen bags of food.These were added to the generous donations from the public and club members.Subsequently they were then sorted, packed and delivered to the Daily Bread Food Bank on Saturday,April 16th.

April 23...Malvern Onyx's Lion Conrad Semple,District Vision Committee Chair ;Toronto Kaiteur's Rudy Misir,Global Service Team Coordinator and Leos and Lions from other clubs recently assembled to sort and pack medicinal pill bottles and used eye glasses in recognition of the Lions Club two causes,environment and vision.Malvern Onyx contributed 140 pill bottles and 125 used glasses to the project.

The pill bottle project ensures strict adherence to environmental concerns as it enables reuse of these bottles to be used as dispensers of medicine,especially for malarial patients in some African countries.By this usage it negates the requirement to discard them after its initial use.

The restoration of used eye glasses is an important factor in assisting people with impaired vision.

April 24......Lion Conrad Semple, observing Earth Day,reflective of environmental concerns, did  some general cleanup on his street.

May.23.The club will be confirming placement sessions with Dolphin Bingo Gaming Centre in accordance with  raising funds for charity purposes.

May 26.. A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the president,Lion Elaine Forde, by Lion Verona Payne,Region 58 Chair.

July 12..Malvern Onyx's recent appeal for donated clothing resulted in the receipt of over twenty bags from several donors.Some bags were deposited to a Diabetes Canada receptacle and the remainder were delivered to the New Circles Community Services,an organisation that meets the needs of low income families,refugees others in need.

July30..Members assisted with painting at St Stephen's Presbyterian Church in Scarborough.

August 05...Malvern Onyx's collective efforts resulted in the delivery of non perishable food items to the Church of the Holy Wisdom in Scarborough.The pantry/food kitchen at the church is accessible to members of the community on Fridays from 10am to 2pm.

August 24...Malvern Onyx recently donated hotdogs,hamburgers and buns to Storefront,a multi- service community facility in Scarborough.

September 20...The club was given an award as a finalist in the Daily Bread Food Bank's, Best In Class Awards.

The Community Leader Award recognizes an individual or group who has raised awareness of poverty issues by creating and organizing a community fundraiser, event, or campaign. 

October 10...Members volunteered at the No Frills and Fusion Supermarkets at Island Rd and Morningside Ave respectively from Thursday,September 29th  to Thursday,October 6th soliciting donations for the Daily Bread Food Bank.Donations were delivered to the food bank on Saturday,October 8th to Sacha Michna,Senior Manager,Community Partnership and Events.

October 14..Malvern Onyx delivered the final donations for its 2022 Daily Bread Food Bank Thanksgiving drive on Friday,October 14th.The project resulted in the collection of 1915 pounds of food,a testament to the dedication and hard work of the members.

November 01...The club commenced a project to fulfill the request from New Circles Commmunity Services for donated winter clothing,coats,gloves,boots etc.

November 22..Over thirty bags of clothing were collected by the club which were donated to Diabetes Canada and New Circles Community Center,an organisation that assists refugees,unemployed and lower income individuals with clothing.The club also donated books to the Toronto Police Service's drive to assist kids in disadvantaged communities.

December 11....A cheque for $3500.00 was presented to the Church of the Holy Wisdom to fund the food pantry and upcoming Christmas luncheon.

December 12.. 5N2,a soup kitchen ,was the recipient of a cheque for $2000.00.

December 15..East Scarborough Storefront,an organisation that provides myriad social services to the community was the recipient of a cheque for $1100.00

December 16..Food hampers and gift cards were distributed to the community at the Church fo the Holy Wisdom.

December 17...Turkeys and food hampers were handed out to members of the community at the East Scarborough Storefront.

December 21...Non perishable food items,shoes and gift cards were delivered to a family of ten through the Christmas Cheer endeavour.

2023..February 25th....Members participated in Coldest Night of the Year Walkathon.Approximately $1500.00 was raised for the endeavour.

March 10th...Approximately seven bags of donated clothing from the Jamaican Canadian Association (JCA) were delivered to Newcircles Community Services .

March 16th...Seven bags of donated clothing were delivered to Newcircles.Four from the JCA and three from neighbours.

March 23nd..Six bags of donated clothing from the JCA were delivered to Newcircles..

April 21st...Two bags of donated shoes and clothing were delivered to Newcircles.

April 22nd.....In recognition of Earth Day cleanup was done in the vicinity of the Shell gas station,Morningside Ave and Sheppard Ave E,Scarborough.

May 2nd....Three bags of donated shoes and clothing were delivered to Newcircles.

May 9th...A cheque for $6000.00 was presented to New Circles Community Services,an organisation  that assists refugees,unemployed and lower income individuals with donated clothing.

May 29th....A cheque for $2000.00 was presented to Scarborough Center for Healthy Communities.

May 30th...Three bags of donated shoes and clothing were delivered to New Circles.

June 17th..A cheque for $10,000.00 was presented to Executive Director,Lynda Kosowan of Scarborough Women's Center.

June 18th....A cheque for $10,000.00 was presented to the Malvern Food Bank,located at the Malvern Methodist Church.

June 21st...A cheque for $8000.00 was rpesented to Seema David of 5N2 .

June 27th....A large garbage of donated shoes an clothing was delivered to New Circles Community Servces.

June 29th...Two bags of donated clothing were delivered to New Circles.

July 15th...A cheque for $8000.00 was donated to the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. 

July 27th...Seven bags of donated clotihng and two boxes of books were donated to New Circles and The Church of the Holy Wisdom respectively.

August 1st...Eight bags of donated shoes and clothing were delivered to New Circles..

September 8th...Members participated with the Toronto Netralya Lions club in the City of Toronto sponsored tree planting environmental project at the Beaumonde Heights Park.

September 8th...Seven large bags of donated books were delivered to Division Forty Three Police Station to enhance their literacy programme.Three boxes were also donated to the Church of the Holy Wisdom as additions to thier library.

October 2nd......Six bags of clothing were delivered to New Circles Community Services.

October 7th...Under the sponsorship of Malvern Onyx members of Toronto Kaiteur,Toronto Bathurst and Toronto Centennial were all united in the cause of serving at the Community Thanksgiving Lunch held recently by the Church of the Holy Wisdom.

Malvern Onyx donated $1000.00 towards this event.

October 18th.. .Malvern Onyx was joined by Toronto Kaiteur,Toronto Kapuso and Toronto Mabuhay in sorting and packing approximately 3300 used eyeglasses,a project organised by Lion Rudy Misir, Recycle for Sight Co-Chairman.The eyeglasses will be sent to the  Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in Calgary and subsequently shipped to several countries around the world..

November 17th..The club made  individual donations of $5000.00 to Grace Place Food Bank,Agincourt Community Services Association(ACSA) and Good Neighbour Dropin,also  Food Banks.

November 19th..$3000.00 was also donated to the Church of the Holy Wiisdom to assist to with their annual Children's Christmas Party.

December 11th...$10,000.00 was donated to the Scarborough Centenary Hospital.

December 21st..Malvern Onyx,in partnership with the Lions' Circle Mens' Association,a men's group,delivered clothing and hand sanitisers to the Revival Time Tabernacle Church recently.                    Pastor Judith James was highly appreciative of the donations and expressed her thanks,highlighting the dire need for clothing at this time.                                                                                                                                Lions William Henry,Faye Godding and Joy Simon represented the club.

December 21st...Six hampers of food and clothing were donated to several needy families.

2024 January 23rd...Eggs were were sorted and packaged at the Church of the Holy Wisdom to assist with the distribution of donated items at the church's Food Bank.

February 9th....$2500.00 was donated to Diabetes Canada.

February 14th...Six bags of clothing was donated to Newcircles Community Services.

February 15th...$2500.00 was donated 5N2 soup kitchen.

February 24th...Members participated in the annual Coldest of the Night walkathon.Approximately 

$1500.00 was raised by the club.
