Who are the MacGregor Lions?

The MacGregor Lions Club is proudly committed to supporting the community of MacGregor, Manitoba and the worldwide work of Lions.  For the past 50 years, we've been making a difference.

We operate two housing facilities in MacGregor.  Lions Beaver Creek Villa is a 55+ Life-lease condo style property made up of 8 - 2 bedroom, single-level units with attached garages.  Lions Manor is an 11 unit property operated in co-operation with Manitoba Housing and is designed to offer affordable, economical rental housing.

The MacGregor Lions Club operates the MacGregor Lions Campground, open from May until October each year.  The campground is made up of 23 camp sites, many of which offer power and water.  7 of our campsites also are equipped with sewer hook-up.  There are firepits and complimentary firewood available.  The campground offers fully equipped mens and womens shower and WC facilities.  Campers often tell us how clean and relaxing the campground is.  And, if you have children who love water, or you like to bat around a tennis ball, there is a tennis court  and a waterpark operated by the town of MacGregor at the campground.

The MacGregor Lions also maintain a small children's playground located just west of the town library on Hampton Street in MacGregor.

How We Help
Throughout the year, we directly support dozens of local, regional, national, and global humanitarian initiatives.  Since our inception, we campaign each October for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind with a fund-raising drive.

We offer eyeglass and hearing aid recycling through their respective national Lions programs.  We also support the Lions Foundation Dog Guides program.

We support a wide variety of community causes, including the recent purchase of a community-owned hand-transit vehicle, and the ongoing development of a Community Assisted Living Facility which is slated for construction later in 2013.

We help to provide recreational opportunities for our local youth. We offer an annual scholarship to our graduating students from MacGregor Collegiate Institute.  We are also occasionally involved with various school activities and programs.

The MacGregor Lions provide disaster aid to local victims of fire, and financial aid to help with the challenges faced by families dealing with serious medical problems.

Globally, we actively support many of the ongoing projects of Lions Clubs International.
