Importance and Value of Trees

Since the beginning, trees have furnished us with two of life’s essentials, food and oxygen. As we evolved, they provided additional necessities such as shelter, medicine, and tools.

On Saturday, 13th February, 2021, Lions Club of Munali planted 25 Pine Tress at Mumana Primary School to increase the number of trees and contribute to a sustainable environment in the community.

The School entrance has been lined up with Pine trees that will create a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environment.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

On 14th November, 2020, the World Diabetes Day campaign focused on promoting the role of nurses in prevention and management of diabetes.

The theme for World Diabetes Day 2020 was "The Nurse and Diabetes." The campaign aimed at raising awareness around the crucial role that nurses play in supporting people living with diabetes. Nurses currently account for over half of the global health workforce.

They do outstanding work to support people living with a wide range of health concerns.

People who either live with diabetes or are at risk of developing the condition need their support too.

People living with diabetes face a number of challenges, and education is vital to equip nurses with the skills to support them. It’s a lot of hard work, but Lions are making an impact all around the world through diabetes events including screenings and awareness events.

The Lions Club of Munali partnered with the Lions Club of Kabulonga, Diabetes Association of Zambia and Lusaka Apex Medical University to help over 200 people get screened at Kabwata Clinic in Lusaka on World Diabetes Day.

Lions on every continent are organizing projects and raising funds in supporting lives through diabetes events in every community. By increasing awareness, we can prevent thousands of people from developing this disease.

Our ongoing support to our communities can reverse the course of prediabetes and help people thrive by making healthy choices. Together, we will make our mark in the fight against diabetes.
