History Of Lions Club Surabhi and present status
Distt. 321-B1 club no. 55982
· Lions Club Surabhi was the first lady lions club inaugurated on 1st July’ 1994, with 26 lady lion charter members.
· The club was sponsored by Lion Club Cantt. Where president at that time was Lion D.K. Maheshwari. Our Region chairperson at that time was Lion Lajja Kaul who is PDG now.
· The charter president was Lion Manju Saxena is PGD now, Lion Lata Whorra as charter Secretary and Lion Kanak Mainktala charter Treasurer.The charter team is still with the club and we have total 13 charter members still with us.
· During three years one of 19 past Presidents, 17 are still our active members.
· Every year our club has active participants in the Distt. Governors Cabinet Zone Chairperson, Region Chairperson and many Distt. Chairperson.
Signature Projects Of Lions Club Surabhi
“Adopt A School”
Acharya Narendra Dev Jopling Road has been adopted by us six years back. We celebrate most of the national festivals with poor school children and hold medical camps, Eye check up & Provision of free spectacles and Dental check up camps.
Adopt a Slum
“Adopt a Slum” Programme, club has planned to do its activity at Slum area of Raja Ji Puram near St. Joseph School.
Sight First
We hold Eye check up camp in poor schools, provide Spectacles & undertake Cornea Transplant.We serve Blind school of Mahanagar& look into their day to day requirements. Sponsoring Education of poor students provide them fees, books, stationary and uniformis part of our routine service activities.
Women Empowerment
At our Maleen Basti we hold free classes for women & girls of the locality & meet their needs.
Poor Girl’s Marriage
Every year we sponsor marriages of poor girls.
Ek Mutthi Anaj
Every month we donate wheat in orphanage of Lalbagh. We also hold Bhandaras and distribute free food to the poor alongwith Water Booth in Summer.
Fund Raising
We hold Charity Shows and also Fete to raise funds for various activities.
Handicap Welfare
Every year we have activities for handicaps and provide them with calipers, wheel chairs & Tricycles.
Donation To LCIF
Every member donates for LCII and we have 2 MIFs.
National & Social Functions
We celebrate all national festivals & also Social festivals like Holi, Diwali, Teej, Dandiya, Basant Utsav, Christmas & new Year.
Picnic
Picnic is also arranged for members and their families.
Save Environment & Tree Plantation.
Winter care
We distribute blankets and warm clothes in winter season.
Blood Donation Camp
We participate with blood donars.
Lions Quest Programme
Every year our club participates7 sponsores teachers.
Immunizations Camps are also arranged by us.
