Meetings

 

As a club we
  • Participate in White Cane Days for Sight Conservation Awareness in May
  • Collect and sort food for Walk N Knock in December
  • Operate the free Toutle I-5 coffee stop one week each summer
  • Recycle used newspaper and magazines through Norpac
  • Collect used eyeglasses
  • Provide funds for free eye exams and hearing aids
  • Assist other clubs with various projects
In addition we have lions who volunteer for various causes including free tax preparation, repairs at the Women Shelter, coaching, local foundation board of directors and committees, and others.  We have awarded 29 individual Melvin Jones Fellowships since 1989 (plus 7 Progressive MJFs) and 1 corporate MJF (given to Norpac in 2007).  We have also awarded 2 Gordon Smith Fellowships through Multiple District 19.  In addition Lion Thuy Vo heads Project Uplift which has built multiple schools in Vietnam over the past decade and is heading back again in 2011.
Past projects have included:
  • Adding a room at Hospice with a matching grant from LCIF and help from other local clubs (see photo)
  • Operating a fireworks stand
  • Assisting with bike repairs for local kids
  • Construction of a picnic area at the south end of Lake Sacajawea
  • Assistance with creating of athletic fields at 7th Ave
  • Reconstructive eye surgery
  • and many others
Other accomplishments include coming in almost first a few years ago twice in a row in the Pioneer Lions Golf Tournament and coming in not last in the 1st Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta during the 4th of July Celebration at Lake Sacajawea.  For those of you that saw us a few years ago, we were the bright purple and yellow 2 man boat that tipped over at the starting line...
