Know your Lions Club of Bangalore North
 
 
Lions Club of Bangalore North , a chapter of the World’s largest Service Organisation Lions Club International , was sponsored by Lions Club of Bangalore Host , & inaugurated on 31st July 1970 by the then District Governor Ln. Dr. S.S.Reddy . LCBN was chartered on 28th Oct 1970 by the then District Governor Ln. Palia . Ln. Capt. Dr. Thimmappaiah , ace cricket player of yester years & a vivid social worker was the charter President while Ln. D.Srinivasan , the Pioneer of Flat System in Housing at Bangalore and Lion’s Moving Encyclopedia , was the Charter Secretary .
The Club , down the decades has carved a niche for itself in the Lions World and the Community through its meaningful & purposeful service activities including many permanent projects that bears the testimony to the commitment of the Members of the Club.
 
Concerned about the Health of the Community , our Club started a free Clinic for the needy poor in & around at North of Bangalore . The Clinic was successfully run for decades and is merged with Corporation’s Urban Family Welfare Center at Sirur Park , Seshadripuram, Bangalore 560 020. It is maintained & run by our Club now for over a decade.
 
With a view to give quality education at an affordable cost ,the Club has associated with Bangalore North Educational Society running Degree College for co-education , at Mahalakshmipuram, Bangalore. The Club has contributed a substantial amount towards the development of facilities in the College.
Concerned for Special Mentally Challenged Children , the Club joined hands with Bala Mano Vikas Kendra, a LCIF Funded Project at Malleswaram . Club arranged contribution more than Rs 15 Lakhs for the construction of School Building. Two of the Club Members are Permanent Trusty Members for this School.
 
Our Club over the years had associated with Minto Ophthalmology Hospital in conducting Weekly Free Eye Operation Camps in Rural & Urban Areas .
 
The Club has got unique distinction of running a Disaster Management Service with its own HAM Radio System ( Amateur). Club also runs successfully Free Supply of Oxygen Cylinders to the needy poor patients on demand.
 

The Club in its 42 years of Service has produced Two District Governors , Two District Cabinet Secretaries, Two District Cabinet Treasurers apart from host of District Cabinet Officers & Lion of Lions. Several Lions, Lioness & Leo Clubs were sponsored by our Club & they are still actively serving the Community in their own sphere.

We meet every 1st Wednesday & 3rd Wednesday – General Body Meeting &
Every 2nd Wednesday for Board of Directors Meet – Business & Activity Discussion.
 
We meet mainly at Malleswaram Association, 7th Cross, Malleswaram, Bangalore 560 003 or  at Century Club , Cubbon Park, K.R.Circle, Bangalore 560 001 or at Karnataka State Cricket Association , M.G.Road, Bangalore 560 001 or at Sadashivanagar Club.

Lions Club of Bangalore North is a 42 Year young Club with more than 50 members residing in and around the Garden City of Bangalore coming under the new Lions District 324-D6 - Previously it was under District 324-D1 (before birfication of the District) We are open for further members - kindly contact our Membership Committee Chairperson as well as our President. Our Lions Club is proposed to conduct HUNTING LIONS IN THE AIR CONTEST on occation of Melvin Jones Birthday which is International HF Event from January 2008. We have also revived the Lions International Stamp Club - LISC - India Chapter # 3
