Meetings

The North LaCrosse Lions are a small but active group that has given time/and or dollars over the years to such local projects as:  Logan HS (Swanson Field) Announcers Box, Copeland Park Concession Shelter, and the Copeland Boat Ramps as well as updating the playgrounds at our local schools.  Each year three deserving graduates of our local high school receive  memorial scholarships funded by our Club. We are honored as  Lions to help give the gift of sight by transporting donated corneas between our local hospitals and the Eye Bank of Wisconsin in Madison.  We regularly collect used eyeglasses, sunglasses and hearing aides, so that they may be reconditioned and distributed to the poor in less developed countries and we help make eye exams, eyeglasses and hearing aids available to needy North LaCrosse residents.  We will cover the costs for local diabetic, sight or hearing impaired children to attend Lions summer camp at Rothschild, Wisconsin. This is a great opportunity for participation in activities like canoeing, swimming, fishing, hiking & climbing which may not normally be available to kids with special needs.  We annually donate funds to provide for food baskets for local families as needed during the Christmas holidays. Local children look forward to our Easter Candy Scramble, a free event for kids from 0-9 years of age, made possible by generous donations from local business as well as our own fund raising activities. Some of our local fundraisers include Candy & White Cane Days, selling  tickets and managing at the LaCrosse airport northgate for the Deke Slayton Airfest, and an annual calendar raffle. A side from conducting our own fundraisers, we assist other local organizations with community events, such as the annual "Polar Plunge for Special Olympics" and “Help your Neighbor Day”. Our newest event was a "Corn Hole"toss, a joint venture with Ace Hardware to benefit the Childrens Miracle Network.
