LdF Lions Annual Brewfest July 27, 2013.  www.lacduflambeaubrewfest.com This event is held the last Sat. of July in the historic pavilion at Torpy Park, Minocqua, WI from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  Price for 2012 Brewfest is $25 pre-buy/$30 at the gate and $5 for designated drivers.  Sampling of micro, craft and specialty brews from thirty+  breweries, mostly from the mid-west.  Merchandise and cash raffles all afternoon, live music with Dublin O'Shea, food and Brewfest T-shirts & caps for sale.  Commemorative pilsner glass with every fully paid ticket.  Children admitted free.  The above picture shows Brewfest volunteers Lion Larry Krull, with his two grandsons Brendan and Nicky selling Brewfest T-shirts at the event.  Co-Chairman, Lions John and Gretchen Spickerman. LdF Lions Brat Wagon. The Brat Wagon is situated at the Ojjibwe Mall downtown Lac du Flambeau every Saturday morning, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm from the opening of fishing in May until the last Saturday in September.  Hot dogs, sodas, water and chips are also available.  Stop by for the best brat in the northwoods!  Brats are made by the head of the Ojibwe Mall's meat department, Lion Chuck Fairfield.  Chairman Lion Mike Oddo.

                                        

 

Vision and Hearing Screening.   During the school year club members conduct vision and hearing screenings to over 400 students in the Lac du Flambeau Public School, K-8.  Chairman Lion Chuck Schaus.

 

Peace Poster and Peace Essay Contest.  In the Fall of the year middle School students at the Lac du Flambeau School participate in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest and our local clubs Peace Essay Contest.  The winner of the poster contest goes on to compete at the District level.  All participants receive some kind of monetary reward.  Co-Chairman Lions Ron Bonnicksen and Gretchen Spickerman.

 

Road Clean-up.  In spring and fall club members pick up two miles of State Highway 70 in Lac du Flambeau.  Chairman Lion Grant Birmingham.

College Scholarships.  Yearly we provide two college scholarships to Lakeland Union High School graduating seniors who reside in the town of Lac du Flambeau. Chairman Lion Bill Herschauer.

Wisconsin Lions Eyebank.     We participate in the transport of enucleated eyes from Howard Young Hospital to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.  Lions Larry Krull, Chuck Schaus and John Spickerman.

Lac du Flambeau Domestic Abuse Shelter Playground.  The Club is Landscaping and improving the secured playground at the Domestic Abuse Shelter.  We are planting 3 shade trees donated by J&J Acres, Woodruff, WI and installing a large sandbox purchased by the club.

 

Tutoring at Lac du Flambeau School.  Many Lion members volunteer at the Lac du Flambeau school both in the classroom and in the after school tutoring program.
