Projects for the Kronenwetter Lions Club

Kronenwetter Fall Festival

The Kronenwetter Fall Festival began in 1995, as a joint venture between the Kronenwetter Lions Club and the Peplin VFW. The Fall Festival was held at the VFW with one event, a car show, consisting of about 10 local cars and tractors. Founding members started this event in an effort to provide a day of fun and enjoyment for Village families. As the years went by, the Fall Festival began to grow, adding more attractions and drawing in more people from the community.

Several years later, the Kronenwetter Fall Festival had outgrown the VFW and committee members began to look for another venue. With the help from the Kronenwetter Fire Department , the Fall Festival moved to the Village of Kronenwetter Municipal Center grounds.

With the aid of fire personnel and local committee members, the Fall Festival continued to grow even larger adding more events and attractions. The Festival now includes a farmer's market, children's activities, safety demonstrations, historical reenactments, food and drink vendors, raffles and more. The Classic Car Show now has over 50 cars on display and the Craft Show boasts over 50 vendors from all over Wisconsin.

With growing popularity of local events such as this, the Kronenwetter Fire Department began to host several of their own events as well, including Run For The Fallen and the Last Alarm Memorial Ride as an effort to raise awareness and funding for the programs of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial.

Even though these events have grown tremdously in size since conception, the original ideals have remained the same. Our goal was, and still is, to provide a day of fun and enjoyment for families, friends and the community.

With so many things to do and see, there is something for every age and interest. We look forward to making this year bigger and better than ever before and can't wait to see you and your family at the Kronenwetter Municipal grounds!

Rain Garden

The Village of Kronenwetter planted its 2nd rain garden in the Village on Saturday June 28 2014. This new garden is located at the intersection of Forest Grove Avenue and Bryce Lane next to the Golden Ponds Condominiums. Duane Gau, Director of Public Works said “over 900 native plants were purchased with a grant from the North Central Stormwater Coalition, which the Village of Kronenwetter is a member”. The Kronenwetter Lions Club members volunteered to plant the new plants with the Village of Kronenwetter Parks Department Crew assistance. Emil Wasniewski, Past Lions District Governor, said “Our members may be on the older generation, but these types of projects are what we like to do to contribute to the community”. The garden was on the muddy side because of recent rains, but Kathy Parde member of the Lions said “to make a difference in your community you have to sometimes get down and dirty” with a laugh. Dan Lesniak, chairman of the Property and Infrastructure committee, which oversee the Public Works and Parks was on hand planting plants too and stated “With organization like the Kronenwetter Lions volunteering for project like this brings our community together”. Several bike riders stop to observe the project and asked questions. Lion President and club Treasurer, Jeff & Jeanne Klapperich stated “a project like this has two valuable asssets; it protects the quality of our ground water and educates the community on what is beneficial in planting water gardens.
