Welcome to our web page for Mendenhall Flying Lions Club of Juneau, Alaska!

Juneau is the Capital of Alaska.  It's a beautiful town gifted with a community of giving and caring people.  The Mendenhall Flying Lions have been serving Juneau for over 33 years and we're just getting started!  We are honored to be a part of Lions Clubs International--the largest service organization in the world!  They inspire us to do more.

Our Club is active with service projects and fundraisers all year long.  We provide litter clean up along the road that carries a million plus visitors to the Mendenhall Glacier.  We partner with Coastal Helicopters to give families helicopter rides over the Mendenhall Valley to view Christmas lights, proceeds to benefit the Children's Tumor Foundation, and our annual barbecue benefits the American Diabetes Association of Alaska where we've raised over $160,000.  Recently, our club brought the USS Juneau Presentation Silver home to reside on loan from the United States Navy at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum.   We sponsor food drives for our community and for others in Southeast towns.  This is just some of what we do.

The Lions are all about sight.  We provide free vision screening at every opportunity whether it's for a home school program, elementary school, charter school, or day care.  We take our vision screener throughout Southeast Alaska and screen children at fairs and schools.  We don't diagnose, however, vision screenings can indicate a potential vision or eye health problem and in cases when the screenings come back "refer", they are encouraged to see an eye care professional for a complete eye exam.  We recycle used eyeglasses for Alaska and around the world!  All free of charge.  In 2015, our Joint Sight Committee recycled 2,277 pair of eyeglasses collected in Juneau.

We are excited about every project we take on.

If you would like more information about our Club and how we serve, please contact us!  We would love to sit down and visit and talk about ways we can make a difference together.
