Ifako Ijaiye Lions Club is an integral part Lions District 404B2 Nigeria. Chartered in September, 2013 with 26 members under Past District Governor, Late Yinka Bolarinwa(PMJF, NLCF). Based in Agege, Lagos State with young and energetic men and women with aims of serving those in need (the underprivileged) and making our community a better place. 

BRIEF HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LIONS CLUBS IN NIGERIA

The international Association of Lions Clubs is an International Service Organization; founded in the United State of America in 1917 by a Chicago based Insurance Practitioner, named MELVIN JONES.

Despite being the youngest of all the service organization, its worldwide membership strength of 1.4m ranks it as the world’s largest and most active service organisation.

The association, which came to Nigeria in 1964 with combined efforts of lion Doyen Akinola Williams and other service minded Nigerians now consists of over 6,000 prominent volunteer ladies and gentlemen in the public service, business and the professions spread over 4 Districts throughout Nigeria. In its over 50 years of existence in Nigeria, the organization has contributed meaningfully to the needy within our community.

Lions Clubs International Purpose

  • To Organize, charter and supervise service clubs to be known as Lions clubs. 
  • To Coordinate the activities and standardize the administration of Lions clubs. 
  • To Create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world. 
  • To Promote the principles of good government and good citizenship. 
  • To Take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community. 
  • To Unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding. 
  • To Provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members. 
  • To Encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.
