News and Happenings
This May, Lions Club International are holding a worldwide fundraiser in partnership with local pet stores in support of the CNIB specialty dog programs. These programs are to support individuals who require a service dog- normally, service dogs may cost in excess of $25,000 and take up to two years to adquately train- with the assistance of this program, individuals in need will recieve these dogs at no cost.
The Huntsville Lions Club has partnered with the local Pet-Valu franchise at King William St. in Huntsville to get the word out about this event and get people to help support this cause on the day of the fundraiser. Participants will walk their dogs and get sponsors to walk their dogs to accrue funds during the event- treats will be available for all dogs (because every doggie is a good doggie), and the event will take participants to various locations; along the Vernon Lake Trail, near Huntsville High School, the Lions' Lookout, and to the Huntsville Place Mall. Everyone is welcome- adults, children, seniors, and of course, dogs!
Volunteers are needed and appreciated! If you'd like to be of assistance to this event and our generous cause, please contact our staff at the Huntsville Lions Club (see Contact Us) or at the Pet-Valu franchise on King William St. in Huntsville.
The Huntsville Lions Club has been a staple in the community of Huntsville, Ontario for over 75 years. We were established in 1941, under sponshorship from our friends up at the Burk's Falls Lions Club. As our club continued to grow and progress, we returned the favour and sponsored other clubs as well, including the Dwight, Dorset, Baysville, Port Sydney and Stephenson's Lions Clubs.
Lions International will be celebrating 100 years of service, coinciding with Canada's 150th birthday. We are proud to have serviced our community for 75 of those amazing years, hosting events and helping with charity and fundraising for Huntsville and its many collectives.
We are always seeking new members- join us on the first and third Wednesday at our club "headquarters", at Chaffey Hall in Huntsville, and see what it means to make your community a better place.
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
