SERVICE ACTIVITIES AND AREAS OF SUPPORT

Vision & Hearing Screening:

Each year, we screen the vision & hearing of all the kindergarten children in the four elementary schools in our service area.

A video link below demonstrates the use of the Plus Optix vision screening equipment but  our lion's club do not enter the children's names into the equipment and  we use  our own forms to report pass or referral for further assessments

PARTNERSHIPS

The Haliburton Lions continue to forge partnerships within the community. As the lead applicant, we have successfully obtained three Ontario Trillium Foundation Grants and in so doing have accomplished the following:

  • Secured additional instruments for the Haliburton Highlands Silver Flutes Band
  • Secured a chamber orchestra and professional soloists for the Highlands Festival Singers’ 20th anniversary production of “The Messiah”
  • Spearheaded a demand market feasibility study in support of the County Swimming Pool Initiative.
  • Friends of the Haliburton County Public Library to help distribute free Scholastic books to children.

We further engage local community groups to help us with our projects in exchange for a donation back to their cause.

The nice thing about teamwork is that you always have others on your side.
