MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

It is almost time for me to hand over the reigns of leadership to our next President, Lion Joyce Harvey. I had a very good time serving as your President and feel that we accomplished a tremendous amount over the past two years. We finally got splash pad approval and by the time my term wraps up in June, 95% of the funding is in place. It seemed like a daunting task, but everybody chipped in and we are getting it done.

We introduced some new events, got an influx of new people and got committees and by-laws established to make our club run more efficient. Overall, we are doing very well and we seem to be busier than ever.

When I took on this role as President two years ago, I set some goals for myself and I am pleased to report that those have been achieved. The first one is to increase the membership. It is important to always be looking for those new people in order to continue the work that we do and to be able to put on the events that the community is counting on. In 2013, we had a 17 member club. When June rolls around, we should be at 22! That is a positive increase of 5, or almost 30%. Thank you to all.

The second goal was to increase the social dynamic in the club. We have since set up a social committee, created a newsletter that makes note of special occasions, celebrations, illness, etc. We are attending area events as a group of friends and have some good laughs at our meetings.

I believe that these small changes have made an impact on the overall dynamic of the group and I certainly hope we can continue on the path. This will only make our club stronger and more appealing for those that wish to join in the future.

Thank for allowing me to serve as your President, it has been a pleasure.
