WHO WE ARE:

The Organization:

Lions are members of community service clubs, dedicated to the idea that the men and women who live in a community are in the best position to know who needs help and why. More than 45,195 strong, these local clubs are part of the world's largest such organization, with around 1.3 million members serving in more than 190 countries and areas. The association is both nonpolitical and nonsectarian. Lions are now best known for their sight-related programs, including SightFirst, the world's largest blindness prevention program.

Our Club:

Our club meets the northwest area of metropolitin Phoenix and south Glendale . See Meeting Locations

What We Do:

Our club is very involved in testing the Sight and Hearing of the children in the neighborhood schools. For example: Since 1997 we tested over 150,000 children. We find this a very rewarding and useful service, It is surprising how many children have undetected sight and/or hearing problems that cause learning difficulties.

We fund eye examinations and glasses for the needy students of 29 schools in the area. (Paid for eye exams and glasses for over 170 children last year.)

We donate funds to the Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation, The Lions Foundation of Arizona, Lions Camp Tatiyee, The Melvin Jones Memorial and the Lions International Foundation and other worthy charities as deemed worthy by the club.
