FINHOLM VIEW CLIMB CLEANUP: LET’S FINISH STRONG

MAY 6TH IS THE FINAL LEG OF OUR MEMBERSHIP JOURNEY!

By John Kirry, Membership Chair

Thank, you Lions, and all those who have helped us in the first two legs of our “Spring Ahead” membership journey. We’ve been planning and executing this project since last January, and we are now coming down the home stretch!

Last weeks' Tacoma News Tribune / Peninsula Gateway newspaper included a great article about the Gig Harbor Lions Club and our ongoing efforts to clean-up and spruce-up the FINHOLM VIEW CLIMB IN GIG HARBOR.  The clean-up is part of a worldwide Lions centennial service initiative celebrating the 100th anniversary of Lions International, founded in 1917.

On Saturday, May 6, from 10AM to 12 noon, we will be doing the final clean-up of the stairs, railings and landings, as well as installing the new plaques, cutting back landscaping, weeding and planting and meeting and greeting members of the community to demonstrate our energy, enthusiasm and heart for service.

Not only are we showcasing our club and encouraging membership, on that day we are having a community wide food drive and eyeglass recycling drive!  Encourage your friends and neighbors to bring non-perishable food for the Fish Food Bank as well as used eyeglasses for recycling!  As in our open house, we’ll get food and glasses only when you reach out and ask.  So reach out this week and invite your neighbors and friends to help us make our community a better place!

At noon on May 6, our project will culminate with the Gig Harbor Mayor, the Hon. Jill Guernsey, officiating the re-dedication of the Finholm View Climb! Thank you all for your great work these past months.

It’s a great time to be a Gig Harbor Lion!

Our local newspaper, the Peninsula Gateway, has written a very nice article about our CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE project spearheaded by Lion Bob Moore and his wife Vonnie. See the article here:
