In just about any medicine cabinet or dresser drawer, you can find a pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used. That same pair of eyeglasses can change another person's life.

Lions Recycle for Sight

That's why Lions Clubs International started the Lions Recycle for Sight program.  Everyone can help.Throughout the year, the Gig Harbor Lions Club collects used eyeglasses through a network of eyeglass collection boxes throughout town. 

We are very fortunate to have an eyeglass recycling facility here in the northwest, one of only 18 such centers in the world.   The Northwest Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center (NWLERC) in Lacey, Washington, is the center where NWLERC personnel sort, clean, test and package each individual pair of eyeglasses.  The eyeglasses that meet stringent quality parameters and are suitable for reuse are sent on missions throughout the world.  NWLERC, in operation since 2004, has received over two million pairs of eyeglasses for reuse and recycling.  We also accept used hearing aids! 

How You Can Help

If you have used eyeglasses (and hearing aids) that you no longer need, you can donate them to us via one of our collection boxes around Gig Harbor.  Our recycling center accepts all prescription and reading glasses, sunglasses and empty plastic and metal frames.  PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE EYEGLASS CASES IN YOUR DONATION.
