    Our Club History

The Fredonia Advancement Association had been in existence for at least 10 plus years. In the early 1970's the Association decided they wanted to do more for their community, on a regular basis, and therefore provide more service. In 1973 the Association decided to become a Lions Club. Charter night, and for many years, all regular meetings were held at Hochstein's Hall (now an apartment building.)The club quickly grew to 40 members, largely due to Mrs. Hochstein's great cooking, and the popular birthday booze bottle raffle fundraiser. The first fund-raising project was door to door light bulb and broom sales. Two years later the first April Pancake Breakfast was held. (the Pancake Breakfast celebrates it's 37th year next April.) Profit from the Pancake Breakfast was dedicated to high school scholarships and the purchase of a new future ambulance. The Fredonia Lions Club membership still includes fourCharter Members.
