EXMOUTH LIONS CLUB
At our April 2013 meeting members reluctantly took the decision to disband on the 30th June 2013, the end of the 2012/13 Lions year.
Age, with it's associate health issues; Family issues, with an increasing number of members having sick relatives to care for, plus a lack of new members coming forward from the community all contributed to our decision. Now down to 12 members, it was hard to see how we could continue being of value to the community with the lack of 'manpower' needed to keep events going.
This will mean that a lot of things taken for granted until now by both locals and visitors will vanish - no more Santa sleigh; no more Easter Duck race; no more help for Stallcombe and LARF fetes and no more help for the needy at Christmas or other times.
Perhaps the fact we have just 'got on with it' without the massive publicity that some seek, meant our voluntary hard work was taken for granted a little - only time will tell...
So for now, a big 'Thank you' to everyone who have contributed to our various events over the past 16 years. We appreciate your support and wish everyone all the very best for the future.
