Dear Lions,

Today, in the 2nd Meeting of the Club, I would like to take the opportunity to inform you some important issues about our organization, its creation & purpose, present development and future plan with an intention to learn, to prepare yourself, to manage our activities, to keep awareness and to develop our Club in a dynamic & systematic manner.

This Academic discussion is a part of CLUB EXCELLENCE PROCESS(CEP)

Who we are? 

Answer:  We are human being emblem with a Logo of ‘Lion club’. So we say we are Lions. Lions meet the need of the local communities and world. Lions are leaders of the community and humanitarian service. And Leaders are Volunteers (works without taking any payment).

What is needed to serve?

Answer: Lions can do the work that is needed and do it with fellowship (a feeling of friendship between people who do things together or share any interest) and integrity (quality of being honest & having strong moral principles).

What is Lions Club?

Answer: It is an organization ready to help world-wide.

How big is the organization?

Answer: There are at present 46,356 Lions Clubs in 207 countries & geographic areas of the world with 1.35 millions of Lions. There are also 5,700 Leo clubs with 1,44,000 Leos. Lions Club International is world’s largest service organization

When and where its function starts?

Answer: Founded in 1917, Chicago, USA

Who is the Founder?

Answer:  Ln. Melvine Jones.

How we are organized?

Answer:  We structured our organization locally, regionally, and internationally.

What is Lions Clubs International?

Answer: It is the parent body of Lions Clubs functioning all over the world. It is guided by President who works with dynamic group of Officers and Directors. Current President’s name is Wayne A. Madden.

What Lions Clubs International does?

Answer: i) Develop: Leaders

              ii) Organize: Lions clubs into Districts. (District leader is called Governor)

What is Vision & Mission of Lions Clubs?

Answer: 

Vision:  To be the Global leader in community and humanitarian service.

Mission:  To empower volunteers to serve their community, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, promote international understanding through lions clubs.

What you are to do as a Lion?

  1. Help your community and gain valuable skill.
  2. Make an impact on People’s lives—locally & internationally.
  3. Learn to be Leader – and lead a respected organization
  4. Network with business people in your community and around the world.
  5. Energize your life and have fun (Pleasure or enjoyment or feel happy)

If you perform above activities, you will good personally & professionally. And you will know that the community volunteer work you perform is worthwhile and appreciated.

What is community?

Answer: Group of people with diverse characteristics who are linked by social ties, share common perspectives and engage in joint action in geographical location or settings.

Why we are here (Here - means in Lion Club)?

Answer: We are here because “We serve”.

 

What is Club Excellence Process (CEP)?

Answer:  It is a four step flexible workshop process dedicated towards Club improvement.

Step-1

Why we are  here?

  • Discover community needs and community need assessment.
  • Discuss lions makes a difference
  • Recognize what lions have accomplished
  • Brainstorm what lion could accomplish in the future

 

Step-2

What makes an excellent club?

  • Determine the characteristics of an excellent club
  • Identity stbling blocks that prevents us from excellence
  • Analyze ways to improve club effectiveness
  • Complete the “How are your ratings?” survey

 

Step-3

Determine our needs.

  • Review the community needs assessment.
  • Review the How are your ratings? Result
  • Locate resources to improve excellence

Step-4

Create action plan

  • Set goals
  • Create action plan

In step-1, a CEP club will talk about community needs.

In step-2, a CEP club will look at clubneeds & will talk about what it takes to be an excellent club.

In step-3 & Step-4, Allow the club to look in-depth at community and club needs and then use resources and plan to become excellent.

        Requests & Advice to all Club members

  1. Attend the club meetings regularly and punctually.
  2. Show attitude “self help is the best help”.
  3. Keep contact always with members of the club to develop fellowship.
  4. A club can not stand as Excellent, to Lions Clubs International, if all members do not participate and functions actively.
  5. Open e-mail immediately so that dissemination of information can be accelerated and quick and minimize cost.
  6. Use online to get information about updated club activities
  7. Visit Web site of our Club.
