Dallas Lions Club Scholarship

Dallas Lions Club is offering $1000 to a graduating Dallas high school student. Eligible applicants will be attending a college, university, business or trade school during the upcoming fall semester. Students living in Dallas and graduating from Dallas High School, Morrison Campus, an accredited private, home-school or online school program are eligible to apply.

For consideration, all information must be received by April 1. Completed applications can be submitted to the Dallas High School Guidance Office or Teresa Ozias at Shetterly Irick & Ozias located at 189 SW Academy Street, Dallas, Oregon 97338. For additional information please call 503-623-6695.

A completed application will include:

  •  A cover letter which includes the following:
    •  Your name, address, parent’s name and address,
    • School currently attending,
    • Where you plan to enroll and current application status, and
    • Intended course of study.
  •  Transcript of high school credits (GPA of 2.8 or above)
  •  Provide a statement not to exceed 250 words about who you are and what your aspirations are for your future. Include challenges that you have overcome in your life.
  •  Complete a list of extra-curricular related activities, honors and awards. Write a brief statement on how these activities impacted you, and how you have had a positive impact on others.
  •  Complete a list of community service. Briefly share how community service has influenced you and what positive impact you have had on our community.
  •  Provide documentation of financial need. Include a statement of how you personally have financially prepared for your post high school education. What scholarships have already been awarded? (If applicable, include a copy of your Household Application for Free and Reduced Meals, FASFA application or a statement of financial need.)
  •  Provide at least three letters of recommendation that includes two individuals not associated with school. (This could be from clergy, community leader, employer, etc)

 The Lions Club Scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria. All items are weighted on a point system of 25% each:

  • Academic Standing
  • Financial need
  • School and Community Service
  • Character

Please note:

  • The student selected for this scholarship will agree to a presentation to the Dallas Lions Club.
  • Funds will be sent directly to the college/school of your choice. Disbursement will be made over two semesters or terms, whichever applies.
  • All application materials must be submitted on or before April 1.
