Well, let’s see if I can start our community newsletter again.

If you haven’t been to any meetings lately, we are now meeting at the Civic Center again.

We were meeting at Lombardo’s Pasta Bar; however, they have closed on Thursday’ again due to business being slow.

So don’t forget we meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month.

Lion President Karen Seybold made a short report on what the State Convention consisted of.

District Governor Ron Seybold received an award from Lions International. Lion Ron received a medal called: The President’s Award. This award is for duty far and above the position Lion Ron holds in expanding and representing Lions International.

GUESTS SPEAKER

Our guest speaker this meeting was J. Carol England, International Exchange Coordinator. This is the Foundation for Foreign Study. In other words, they are foreign exchange students.

Mrs. England explained how the program works and how students are selected for placement here in the state and how hosts are screened for proper environment. In order for students to be here they have to pay their own way, and maintain a certain moral and scholastic performance, or they are removed from the program and sent back to the country they come from. Mrs. England was asked to speak at our club by Lion Janice Osborne; who by the way is her sister.
