The Lions Club of Cheltenham
We are a group of like minded people who come from all walks of life. We are united to give some of our free time to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Time that is given, and money which is raised ,is spent largely in Cheltenham. No money is deducted for Club administration. All administration expenses are paid for by the members themselves.
In 2010, the Club reached its 50th year of service to the local community including since 1987 the provision of a holiday caravan at Burnham-on-Sea, equipped for the disabled, where those in need can have a free weeks accommodation.
Our fund raising efforts throughout the year include one day plant sales in Spring and Autumn which have proved tremendously popular, second hand book sales and concerts such as the Treorchy Male Choir at the Town Hall. The proceeds from this concert are going to help provide a special bicycle for a Charlton Kings man crippled in an accident who has also lost his sight.
We meet twice a month at the Victory Club in Lypiatt Road, Cheltenham to deal with business matters and we have various social events for members as well.
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
