             1939  -  (Our 86th year of Community Service)  -  2025

We were chartered on November 1, 1939, and have provided help and served those in need in the community ever since. Our club is part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organization, with more than 1.4 million members in hundreds of countries and geographical areas. The proceeds from our fund-raisers are used to provide aid for the blind, visually-handicapped, deaf and hearing-impaired as well as many other worthwhile causes. Current members of the Calumet City Lions Club represent more than 1,000 years of community service through Lionism. NOVEMBER

Dear Lions,

I wanted to share an update on Lion Esther. I spoke with her daughter, who let me know that the surgery went well and that Lion Esther is feeling positive and in good hands. She will be moved to another facility in the next few days, and we’ll continue to keep you informed as we learn more. Please continue to keep Lion Esther in your thoughts and prayers for a smooth recovery and continued strength.

Kindly,
Lion Brenda
It's Time to Honor Thiose Who Serve!

Dear Lions,

Next Tuesday, we have something truly special planned - a General Meeting that marks a major milestone in our journey together as we officially enter our 86th year of service!

This is more than just a meeting; it’s a celebration of who we are and what we stand for. We’ll hear from some of our very own members as we take time to honor our Veterans for their dedication and sacrifice. We’ll also have a special presentation you won’t want to miss. And if that’s not exciting enough, we’ll be kicking off your first chance to win $20,000!

Please note, this will be our last general meeting of 2025. There won’t be a general meeting at the VFW in December so let’s come together in full force to celebrate our legacy, our service and each other.

Kindly RSVP by November 8th so we can make sure there’s plenty of food for everyone. You can RSVP using the form below or simply reply to this email.

RSVP HERE💜💛

Let’s keep the spirit of Lionism strong as we continue to serve, connect, and grow together. We can’t wait to see you there!

With Lion Pride,

Lion Brenda

Many thanks to Lions Leo & Maria Valencia for hosting our club's Fall Football Fiesta - an afternoon of great food, great friends, great fun. And - some libations . . . more than ONE. Result: a great time was had by everyone!!!

A Warm Welcome to Lion Lila
What a wonderful evening we had at the Oct. 14 General Meeting as we officially welcomed our newest member, Lila Labahn, into the Calumet City Lions Club family! Every new Lion strengthens our mission to serve and helps us make a greater impact in our community. Expanding our club means expanding our kindness, compassion and service reach, and that’s something worth celebrating!
A special thank-you goes out to our inspiring guest speakers from the Hospice of the Calumet Area . We appreciated hearing about the invaluable work they do and their upcoming Holiday Market, featuring beautiful and unique handmade items perfect for gift-giving. Please consider stopping by and supporting them this season!
There has never been a better time to join the Calumet City Lions Club. If you’ve been thinking about serving your community, building friendships and making a difference, this is your moment! Message us today to learn how you can become part of our Lions family.
If you have any books for our Little Libraries, please bring them along so we can continue sharing the gift of reading with our community.
Your participation truly adds value to our meetings, and we look forward to an enjoyable evening together.  As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Kindly,
Lion Brenda
On a sad note . . .
Long-time Calumet City Lion Mike Woolsey passed away recently. He joined the club in May of 1981 sponsored by Lion Don Lukos and was a retired Calumet City firefighter. Please keep Lion Mike and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
The Prez Sez -

Dear Fellow Lions,

It is with great joy and gratitude that I step into the role of President for the 2025–2026 Lions year! Since joining Lions in 2021, I’ve been continually inspired by the heart, humor  and dedication of our members.  But my passion for serving began much earlier, during my teen years, I went on more than 10 mission trips with my church, where I first discovered the deep joy that comes from giving back. That spirit of service has stayed with me ever since, and I’m proud to now be entering my 25th year of serving as an educator at Lincoln, right here in Calumet City.

A little about me: I’m married to Ryan, a kind and wonderful soul who keeps me grounded and laughing. We have two beautiful pups who run the house, and I’m a proud aunt to 16 nieces and nephews and a great aunt to two more! I enjoy reading, crafting, watching every Real Housewives franchise (don’t judge!), and I’ve been known to flutter around the room like the social butterfly I am.

As your president, I’m excited to focus on three main goals this year:

President Goals

  • Bring Joy to Every Gathering – Meetings and service should lift our spirits. When we laugh and connect, we serve better.  Let’s make joy part of everything we do!

  • Increase Member Commitment to Service – Our work is most impactful when we all show up, ready to roll up our sleeves and give our best.

  • Lead with Gratitude and Recognition – I’ll make it a priority to acknowledge your efforts and celebrate one another. When we feel seen, we shine.

Club Goals

  • Grow Our Pride – Let’s welcome new members to join our mission and multiply our impact.

  • 90% Attendance Commitment – Showing up is the first step to making a difference. Let’s aim for strong, consistent participation.

  • Share the Lions Story Loud and Proud – Our community should know who we are and what we do. Let’s be proud ambassadors of Lions Clubs International!

I’m honored to serve as your President, and I’m genuinely excited for what we can accomplish together. Most of all, I’d love to hear from you—your ideas, your energy, your vision for growing our club. Here’s to a joyful, impactful, and unforgettable year!

Got books or magazines?  Our Little Libraries could use some. Contact Lion Denny to donate.

Happy  Birthday_________

  Just Wondering:
--  How do you get off a non-stop flight?
--  How come noses run and feet smell?
--  Why is it called a TV set when there's only one?
--  Why do we put cups in the dishwasher and dishes in the cupboard?
