Reclaimed Paint Gives the Hostel a New Look

Volunteers have used 80 plus gallons of reclaimed Paint from the Bellingham Toxic Disposal Facility on Airport Drive to renew and refresh the Hostel

Plus Fifteen gallons of outdoor paint was donated by Steve Allmann and tinted with the help of Sherwin Williams and Sue at Pacific Building Supply.

We Call the Outside Color Copper Patina - a one of a kind color.

In addition to paint we also acquired filler, cleaners, glues, spray paint and disposed of what we did not need at Toxic Disposal Facility.

Who is Staying at the Hostel?

“More families staying at the Hostel” Typically hostels are known for accommodating backpackers, cyclists and young single travelers.  Here in Birch Bay we are witnessing an increase in families joining our travelling friends.

“those relocating to the Area” They come from Alaska, Louisiana, Hawaii, Missouri and Canada.  They stay while looking for a permanent residence.  Since January we have hosted over a dozen families relocating to the Pacific Northwest.

“Groups, Retreats, And Family Reunions & Special Events” We can accommodate up to 40 people at the hostel.  This year we have seen Doctors and other health care professionals on Retreat, Girls Scouts on their way to Hands Across the Border, Cyclists, Marathoners, Wedding Parties and Family Gatherings.

“Conscious Partier’s – Choosing not to Drink & Drive”  Our newest groups of Guests are out of town visitors attending weddings, events and other parties here in Birch Bay Area.
