WE SERVE

Every day, in a multitude of ways

Since 6 December 1976, the Lions of Benoni van Rhyn have proudly served their community in numerous ways.

Signature projects have included providing needy people within the community with spectacles and hearing aids; creating diabetic awareness; the distribution of food parcels and planting trees on Arbor Day.

The Lions of Benoni van Rhyn have especially cared for and continue to care for, both the elderly and the youth in our community. Bingo afternoons, mid year outings and Christmas luncheons are provided for residents of Fairleads and Rynpark Retirement Homes. Lions assisted children at Colin House, a Place of Safety with their homework tasks every week and support is given to the home on a regular basis. Local schools are encouraged to participate in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest and Lions spend time interacting with students helping them to grow into service minded members of the community.

Countless smaller acts of Lionism have occurred over the years such as sponsoring tickets to matric farewells; donating computers and loaning out of wheelchairs. Although these are small acts, they certainly make a difference to someone’s life.

Where a need exists within the community, the Lions Club of Benoni van Rhyn will be there to assist.
