OUR PERMANENT PROJECT "SHISHU KUNJO SCHOOL"

We are operating Charity School for the Underprivileged Children aged 5 to 15 years at  Mohammadia Housing Society, Mohammedpur,Dhaka, Bangladesh. These children are living at Mohammedpur Beribadh Slum area in desperate poverty, with no medical care, no education, and above all no hope for the future. Some live in dire poverty with mothers who are widowed or have been deserted by their husbands.

In 1996 only 25 students were there and now in 2009 that has raised to 130 students. Our teachers are well trained and qualified from Institute of Childhood Education, which is specialized for Early Childhood educational training. There are 3 shifts with 30 minutes break for each group. Nursery Class : 08;00am to 10:00am Class One : 10:30am to 12:30pm Class Two : 01:00pm to 03:00pm The subjects include English, Math, Social Science, General Khowledge and Bangla. Once a child has reached the required level to follow the normal curriculum , they are enrolled in stated owned school.

OUR FUTURE PLAN

(1) With the ever increasing number of children enrolled, there is an urgent need for shishu kunjo to move out of its present premises and relocate its activities.(2) We are striving to start Food aid program for our children, as most of them are suffering chronic food insecurity and severe malnutrition.(3) We are also planning to set up a LION CHILDREN HOME for the homeless and deprived children aged 3 to 15 years. The children have very different histories. Many children are orphans without a single relative to care for them. Others still runaway from home because they were being abused by their stepparents.

OBJECTIVE OF FUTURE PLAN # TRANSFORMING UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN INTO PRODUCTIVE HUMAN RESOURCE.

Strictly respecting gender equity and striving to provide for as many girls and boys, CHILDREN HOME's overall objective is to give them the necessary skills to be fully integrated into the society. This includes a proper academic background as well as basic life skills ( health and hygiene, civic education, primary education, vocational training including sewing, embroidery and handicrafts etc ).
