DISTRICT GOVERNOR 201N2 LION PAUL HELMLING AND WIFE LION MAXINE HELMLING VISIT LIONS CLUB OF AUSTINMER/THIRROUL. 

DG Paul and wife Lion Maxine visited the Club as part of his Annual Visitation program on 1 December 2009. DG Paul particularly congratulated the Club on the success of its celebratory function for its 50th Anniversary  held on 12 September 2009.

The DG commented as to the importance of future growth of our Club and at the same time recognised the important role that the Club has played in serving its community in the Northern Suburbs of the Illawarra over the past 50 years.

Following a general meeting of the Club DG Paul and wife Lion Maxine joined the members at the normal Dinner Meeting of the Club and saw first hand the functionality of our Club’s workings as well as enjoying a marvellous two course meal from LYSSANDRAS AT THIRROUL. DG Paul took a lot of convincing that this was close to the normal “fare” for our Dinner meetings.

A very strong attempt was made to see the DG Paul or wife Maxine win the night’s raffle but to no avail………and absolute integrity and fairness prevailed.

The DG made a special presentation to two of our Charter members Lion Barry Husbands and Lion Reg Ryan, who was enjoying his birthday celebrations on 3 December 2009. Despite prompting and all other methods the DG could not establish Lion Reg’s age…. President Lion Col and DG Paul exchanged Bannerettes.
