A PROUD LEGACY OF SERVICE

The Lions Club of Arua stands as a beacon of service, leadership, and community transformation in Northern Uganda. Chartered in 2002, the club was proudly sponsored by the esteemed Lions Club of Kampala Host, marking the beginning of a strong and enduring presence of Lionism in the West Nile region.

From its inception, the club has been guided by the global mission of Lions Clubs International—to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, and promote international understanding.

Growth and Strength

Over the years, the Lions Club of Arua has grown into the largest and most vibrant Lions Club in Northern Uganda, with a committed membership of 39 active Lions. This strength lies not only in numbers but in the dedication, professionalism, and unity of its members, who come from diverse fields and backgrounds, working together with a shared passion for service.

Leadership

The club is currently led by President Mundua Micheal, a distinguished civil engineer whose leadership reflects professionalism, vision, and a strong commitment to community development. Under his guidance, the club continues to expand its impact and uphold the core values of Lionism.

Areas of Service

The Lions Club of Arua has actively implemented all the key global service areas of Lions Clubs International, demonstrating a holistic and inclusive approach to community service:

• Vision – Supporting eye care programs and preventing avoidable blindness
• Diabetes – Raising awareness, diabetes screening and promoting healthy living
• Hunger – Providing food support and nutrition initiatives
• Environment – Engaging in tree planting and environmental conservation
• Childhood Cancer – Supporting affected children and families
• Youth Empowerment – Mentoring and uplifting the next generation

Through these interventions, the club has touched countless lives and contributed significantly to the social and economic well-being of communities across the region.
