THE  2012 MD  N  CONVENTION IS BEING HELD AT  SAINT FRANCIS XAVIER UNIVERSITY CAMPUS ( St. F.X.) 

This is Saint Francis Xavier University's Millenium Center.  St. F.X.is   the location of the Multiple District Convention held in Antigonish in May 2012.

Registration for MDN  2012 Convention

NOTE:   Good News :  The deadline for the  registration has been extended to May 6, 2012.  If you find that you are later than that please call Lion Dave to let him know your registration may not meet this extended deadline.  As well, if you send in your registration some time ago and the cheque did not go thru or anything like that check with Lion Vic at (902) 863-0537 or e-mail him at vicmaclellan@eastlink.ca  to get verification that your cheque has been processed at the bank.

We are working to make the Registration easier to read and fill in.  The Breakfast and Lunch Buffet for Saturday  are extra and they need to be paid when you send your  registration in.    At the convention we will explain where you can get Breakfast on Sunday -- very short distance from the Millenium center    We will continue to improve this site  as we go along.  Thanks for your patience.  We are pleased to have the THE PDGA (THE PDGA stands for Past District Governor's Association)  meeting also which  meets at the MD Convention each year. In the past it has been a noon lunch but this year it has been changed to a Breakfast Meeting. Information on the Association can be down loaded from the MDN web page at  PDGA  

 

We are very happy to have Lion Marvin Chambers as our special guest speaker.  Lion Marvin is our Canadian International Director with Lions International. 

 

MARVIN CHAMBERS

INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR

Marvin Chambers, from Fillmore, Saskatchewan, Canada, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 94th International Convention, held in Seattle, Washington, USA, July 4 to July 8, 2011.

Director Chambers is an agricultural consultant and the mayor of Fillmore.

A member of the Fillmore and District Lions Club since 1971, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, region chair, zone chair and district governor. He also served as a Guiding Lion and convention chairperson, attended extension workshops and helped start three Lions clubs and a Leo club.

In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including the 100% Club Secretary Award, 100% Club President Award, two International President’s Medals and two International President’s Certificates. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Judge Brian Stevenson Fellow and a life member of both the Saskatchewan Eye Bank and the Saskatchewan Foundation.

In addition to his Lions activities, Director Chambers is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He currently serves as a member of the Fillmore Recreation and Cultural Board, a member of the Hospital Foundation for Fillmore District and a village representative for Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities. In the past, he also served as councilor for RM #96 [Fillmore], United Church treasurer, councilor for the Village of Fillmore, and president of both the Fillmore’s Donor’s Choice and the Fillmore Curling Club.

Director Chambers and his wife, Lynne, also a Lion, have five children and five grandchildren.

SCHEDULING AND MEALS OF THE CONVENTION

            We have writtern up the schedule for the Convention  (what will be happening ) of the Convention and it is gone to MDN for OK.  The meeting scheudle will be done by the MDN and Council Chair.  However the Banquet (Saturday night for those new to MDN) is set.

         Roast turkey with cranberry Apple Stuffing.  Brown Butter Mashed Potatoes and Roast Root Vegetables. 

        Dessert is New York style Cheesecake with Berry Coulis. (For Non cooks try clicking on  A dictionary of foods to define it.)

Multiple District N , was chartered by Lions Clubs International July 6, 2007, with the division of Multiple District 41 into the single District 41 (Maine, USA) and the Atlantic Provinces of Canada plus Fort Kent, Fort Fairfield and Calais, Maine, USA. the smaller Multiple District serves New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and 3 clubs on the Maine _New Brunswick border under District N-1, Nova Scotia under District N-2and Newfoundland West and East under N-3 and N-4.

GETTING TO ANTIGONISH

 

If you want another suggestion on direction to Antigonish.

 

If you have directions then you won't need these.  These are just a rough description of  directions from Halifax and Airport and from Sydney.

For a better and more user friendly map just go to any internet map like this one.

From Sydney

-Take Highway 104 to EXit 32 at Antigonish.

-Turn Right on Exit 32 onto West street.

- Go to the first lights and turn Right on Convocaiton Blvd.  Milllenium Center is just on the right.  Parking Lot is on the Right. just before the Millenium  Center Building. You are here.

 

From Halifax and Airport.

-Take Highway 102 going towards Truro.

- Keep thru Truro to the exit that says "PEI , New Glasgow, Cape Breton' onto Highway 104 East.

-Keep going past Pictou, NewGlasgow until you get to Antigonish.

- Turn Left off Exit 31 onto James Street.

- Continue to the Lights at West Street  and keep straight onto Convocation Blvd.

- As soon as you are on Convocaiton Blvd look right and you will see the Millenium Center - parking lot is to the right and before the Millenium Center building. You are here.

FROM PEI BRIDGE OR FERRY.

Get on the Transcanada Highway 104 East and head to Antigonish.

Keep going past Pictou, NewGlasgow until you get to Antigonish.

- Turn Left off Exit 31 onto James Street.

- Continue to the Lights at West Street  and keep straight onto Convocation Blvd.

- As soon as you are on Convocaiton Blvd look right and you will see the Millenium Center - parking lot is to the right and before the Millenium Center building. You are here.  Drive across the street and you will be near the Millenium Center to the right.  You are here at the Convention.

To get to Morrison Hall you can go back out Convocation Blvd to West Street, turn right on west street and go about a short block to Universeity Avenue.  Then turn right on University Avenue and you will actually drive towards Morrison Hall.
