Founded in 1977 as Farningham and District, Swanley & North Downs Lions Club serves the towns and villages along Kent's North Downs, where its members live and where it raises funds to support local needs.
We meet requests for help from organisations and individuals, giving preference to those within our catchment area. We have a major commitment to the Lions Hospice (now part of ellenor) which serves our area and which the club helped to found.
Our major fund-raising activities are a sponsored walk normally in April/May - but postponed to September in 2021 due to Covid - and 'Bike around Brands' in August (an oportunity to raise money for charity by riding around Brands Hatch motor racing circuit). We also hold Quiz Nights and 'shake a bucket' in local shopping centres each Christmas.
We (and our families and friends) also enjoy 'life with the Lions' with a lively social programme and even fund-raising events can be fun - the best results come from a team of good friends! The Club meets twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings and a warm welcome is extended to anyone to come and find out what Lionism in Swanley and North Downs is all about.
