History
The Gloucester City Lions Club was formed in 1944. In its six decades of service, the Gloucester City Lions have earned and passed on to worthy causes close to half a million dollars. Our members have ranged from doctors to small business owners to police chiefs and include some of the most influential and vital members of Gloucester City and surrounding communities.
Today the Gloucester City Lions Club is one of the largest and most active clubs on the east coast. We provide dozens of eye glasses, wheelchairs, and other durable medical goods each year. We provide sight screening and amblyopia testing for young children at both St. Mary's and Cold Springs Elementary schools. We support many other local charities, ranging from our local Boy Scout troop to the Camden Ronald McDonald House. All these good deeds are done in an atmosphere of fun and fellowship.
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
