 Welcome to Falmouth & Penryn, Cornwall, UK.

We entertained 24 teams and a beachful of spectators with our TIDE RACE at Gyllyngvase Beach, Falmouth, on Sunday afternoon. And promoted LIONS, and raised a few pounds to be given to good causes in the local community!

Teams of up to eight build a pile of sand,

defend it, then last team standing wins!

 

July 25th - Penryn Town Council - Quayside Civic Service

Lion President Toops Brook in full regalia, with Penryn Mayor, Mary May.

Hymns were accompanied by Carharrick Silver Band; Piper Andy Stewart led the parade down Penryn High Street to Penryn Quay. The weather was brilliant - Penyn River in the background. Collection was in aid f the RNLI, Falmouth Lifeboat Richard Cox Scott is in the background.

July 13th - Lion President Toops Brook hands over a £100 cheque to Cliff Brown, Treasurer of Falmouth Memory Cafe (for further information see www.falmouthmemorycafe.org.uk)

 

 

On July 5th, Lion President George Atherfold became Lion Ex-President George when he handed over the presidency to Lion Toops Brook (our first lady president)

At the same time, a number of local charities benefited from the President's Annual Handout.

The beneficiaries of the Charity Trust account this year were:

Shelterbox, Elderly Peoples'Outing, Cornwall Youth Cricket,
Penryn Old Peoples Club, Saturday Club Penryn, Cruse Bereavement Care Cornwall, Optomist Club (contributing towards a bowel scanner), Cornwall Women's Refuge Trust,  Tanya's Courage Trust, Falmouth Memory Cafe, Merlin Project, Penryn Federation and Cornwall Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre.
