The Alexander Bay Lions Club serves the communities of Glovertown, Traytown and Culls Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador. We have approximately 18 members. We meet in the Lions Community Centre which we own and operate. The Centre is available to groups and individuals for community events, weddings and socials.
The Alexander Bay Lions Club Community Centre is a fully equiped Emergency Warming Centre. We have a 100KVA diesel generator for back up power, a full comercial grade propane kitchen, cots, quiilts etc ready for any emergency situation.
The Centre also has a medical supply room, which is equiped with hospital beds, wheel chairs, walkers, crutches, and canes which are loaned to residents when required.
Located next to the Dr C. V. Smith Memorial Community Health Centre at 114 Main Steet South,the Club has established the Lion Sam Saunders Park, which is equipped with a gazabo, chairs and benches for use by residents. The Park is named in honor of PDG Sam Saunders, 9-time past president, 5 time Zone Chair and a highly active Lion at the District and Club level.
We are located on the western boundary of the Terra Nova National Park and approximately 65 KMs east of Gander, a well known International Airport town in central Newfoundland.
