Club Prez Gets NEW VOICE AWARD

District (27 D1) Governor Jeff Winkler recently presented Club President Sandra with a District New Voice Award, which included a pair of round trip tickets to the Artic, and $10K in cash. Presented annually to recognize a diverse group of Lions and Leos, a New Voice Award recognizes dynamic and innovative contributions in one of four areas: service, membership, leadership and marketing. Congratulations Sandra, and thank you for your leadership. (BTW, the cash and tickets are a hoax to see if you were reading.)

Sausage Sale Kicks Off Club's Annual Efforts

What does a Dachshund have to do with a brat sale? According to Optimism Brand's INTERESTING FACTS website, more than 7 Billion hotdogs are sold in the USA every year. Well, despite some gloomy weather to begin our Garage Sale Days cookout, our club sold quite a few brats, hotdogs, chips, cookies, and drinks last weekend. Thanks to all those who helped set up, grill, serve, clean up....and all the in-between and all around duties of a successful event. Trivia: Where did the term "hotdog" come from? A: German butchers used to call them Dachshund Sausages. To add insult to injury, they reduced those short-legged dogs to "hotdog."

Club Awards Kwik Trips Distinguised Service Award

The two Kwik Trip store locations in Waunakee have been donating food items to the local food pantry since soon after their respective openings beginning in 2018. About a dozen Waunakee Lions Club members help collect donated food from the stores. Members follow a quarterly schedule, each visiting "their" store about once a month. They provide the transportation from the stores to the Waunakee Food Pantry, where they log and weigh the donations before sorting them onto shelves and/or into refridgeration. The club recently presented its Distinguished Community Service Award to the two stores.
